Dear Residents and Families of Dania,

Happy New Year to all of you. I want to provide you with an update on events of the past month on the Dania campus.

I am pleased to report that since November the number of residents and staff with respiratory related illnesses was minimal.  Staff contained the spread as much as possible through enhanced infection control and prevention methods like mask wearing in all resident areas, especially at Dania Home.  As you may have heard, the BC Ministry of Health only implemented this same approach on January 6, 2025, for staff and visitors at BC health care facilities.

Residents at Dania Home and Dania Manor also experienced a fantastic holiday season.  There many Christmas carols sung and traditional dishes eaten throughout last month. The highlight was the Danish Christmas Gala Dinner on December 20, 2024.  We had a great turn out with Danish themed Christmas décor as well as traditional foods presented such as open face sandwiches that many residents and families experienced for the first time.  We got many compliments about the event and we are thankful to our Recreation Coordinator Algene Fructoso and his Recreation staff as well as Dania Board and Leadership Team members who made this a successful community event.

Family Council Chair Craig McCulloch and I would like to invite all current and new family members to attend our monthly meetings where we discuss important topics that concern BC’s healthcare system and the impact it has on our residents, families and staff.  Our next meeting is Monday, January 20, 2025 at 6:30pm.  For those that are unable to attend in-person, we also have a virtual method available.  Here are the ZOOM meeting details used for this specific meeting:
