Letter from Dania Executive Director Lui Franciosi — February 2024

Dear Residents and Families of Dania,

I want to provide you with an update on our COVID-19 status and brief you on other events happening at Dania.

Over the last month, Dania Manor had no COVID-19 cases while Dania Home did see a significant number of residents and staff members who tested positive for COVID-19.  We also had two residents infected with Influenza A.  Affected neighborhoods were on enhanced monitoring with staff following all necessary Fraser Health protocols to monitor and contain these cases.  As of today, we have no new cases at Dania Home but we have four new cases of Influenza A at Dania Manor; one of these residents also has COVID-19.  All Dania Manor residents and families have been notified, and we are restricting movement and programming for those affected until the middle of this week, assuming there are no new cases.  We ask that visitors check regularly our COVID and influenza status on our website at:  https://www.dania.bc.ca/covid-19-status-updates  We do appreciate your understanding and patience at this time.

This weekend we also celebrated the Year of the Dragon, as the part the Chinese Lunar New Year festivities at  the Dania Campus.  Many residents and families enjoyed lovely food and activities as well as the decorations and music that recreation and reception staff had thoughtfully assembled over the last week.  Many thanks to all who were part of this beautiful event.  Gong hei fat choy! Gong xi fa cai! Wishing all of you great happiness & prosperity (in Cantonese and Mandarin, respectively!)

Lastly, we invite all families to visit Dania and enjoy this Family Day long weekend with their loved ones.  The Family Council Chair Craig McCulloch and I would like to welcome you to also attend this month’s Family Council meeting, scheduled for this coming Monday, February 19, 2024 at 6:30pm.  For those that are unable to attend in-person, we also have a virtual method available.  Here are the ZOOM meeting details used for every meeting:
