Letter from Dania Executive Director Lui Franciosi — August 2023

Dear Residents and Families of Dania,

I hope you are all having a good summer.  I want to relay some important updates from our Dania campus of care.

We continue to be COVID-free at Dania Home and Dania Manor.  We are pleased to see this trend as newer variants are now evolving and spreading within the Province.  Our Leadership Team and Staff continue to follow the best practices and the advice of Fraser Health and BC Centre of Disease Control.  We like to thank you for your patience and understanding as well as encourage you to monitor our COVID-19 status at www.dania.bc.ca for any new updates.

I would like to announce our first Centenarian Tea Celebration on National Centenarian Day, Friday, September 22, 2023.  The event will bring together a large number of Centenarians (circ. 40 confirmed thus far) from the Fraser Health Region to our Carl Mortensen Manor Auditorium.  It will start at 11:30am with Centenarians and their family guest escorted down a red carpet to their tables and receiving a light lunch with tea.  At 12:30pm, they will have an opportunity to mingle with community leaders such as BC Seniors Advocate Isobel Mackenzie and Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley who have already confirmed their attendance.  We look forward to this great moment, especially hearing about the life stories of these many wonderful centenarians, all in one location.

Lastly, I would like to invite you to attend our next family council meeting on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 6:30pm at Dania Home’s Boardroom or virtually for those unable to attend in person.  Refreshments will be available to all of you that evening. Please find below the Zoom meeting details:
