The Dania Ladies Auxiliary was formed in December 1942 to assist in the start of Senior Citizens’ home for elderly Danes and continue their contribution to the residents with:
Entertainment
Ladies Auxiliary puts on a birthday party on the first Wednesday of each month for all the residents celebrating a birthday in that month. The ones with birthdays and their guests are seated at the centre table decorated with lace tablecloths and using our china dishes. For those over 90, a bouquet of flowers is provided by the Mayor of Burnaby with a letter of congratulations.
The Auxiliary provides the food for the party which consists of Danish sweet buns, Danish pastry and Danish birthday cake. Music is provided during the party and a number of our residents get up and dance with staff members and volunteers.
Christmas
The Ladies Auxiliary holds an annual Christmas Party for the residents in the dining room on a Saturday afternoon in December. Entertainment is provided by the St.Lucia girls from the Danish Church directed by Ebba Siple. Each resident is given a Christmas present, card and poinsettia plant delivered to their room while they are at lunch. The Ladies Auxiliary has provided decorations for the Home.
The Dania Ladies Auxiliary welcome new members. Please contact Else Rollke if you are interested in becoming a member –
