Accreditation Canada

Dania is Accredited with Exemplary Status!

Dania Home (complex care) and Dania Manor (assisted living) were surveyed by Accreditation Canada surveyors in November, 2018 with exemplary results.  Of the 674 relevant accreditation standards based on safety and Best Practice guidelines, Dania Home and Manor met 661 standards with a total score of 98% overall, leading to the Accreditation Canada’s designation of “Accredited with Exemplary Status.”

We are extremely proud to report that this is the second time we have achieved this result, which means that we have held this prestigious result for 8 years.  Accreditation is a requirement of BC’s Health Authorities to ensure safe, competent care of elderly citizens in care.  We are pleased to share our results with you, ultimately exemplifying our commitment to your loved one’s safety, care, quality of life and wellbeing!

Accreditation provides an independent, third-party assessment using standards built upon best practices used and validated by organizations around the world.

What is Accreditation?

Accreditation is an ongoing process of assessing health and social services organizations against standards of excellence to identify what is being done well and what needs to be improved.

It involves all members of our organization, from our board of directors to frontline staff as well as members of the community including patients and families and our community partners. It allows us to understand how to make better use of our resources, increase efficiency, enhance quality and safety, and reduce risk.

Who benefits from accreditation?

  • Clients & Families: A good accreditation program fosters respectful, compassionate, culturally appropriate, and competent care that is responsive to the needs, values, beliefs, and preferences of clients and their family members.
  • Leadership: Accreditation adds credibility for quality improvement, supports changes to policies and procedures, minimizes risk and helps provide more consistency of services
  • Staff: Accreditation engages staff in continuous quality improvement, improves safety, and streamlines onboarding through access to clear policies and procedures

What does being accredited mean?

When you see the Accreditation Canada seal, you can be certain that the health care organization is working hard to meet standards to deliver safe, high-quality care. We do so because better quality means better health.
